Nordic format and fiction series creativity showcased at MIPTV

A unique chance to see a selection of the best new formats and fiction series from Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden will be delivered at Mipformats and MIPTV in Cannes this April.

“Laugh, Scream, Learn” consists of two screenings and a panel discussion, organised by Favex together with a broad array of partners, among them the British K7 Media, in charge of the final selections and presentations.

For years the Nordic countries have been recognised as audiovisual hubs, with new, fresh and best-selling formats emerging every year, as well as crime series making the most out of Nordic scenery, light and state of mind.

“The future seems to be equally guaranteed with innovative next generation companies and talent, which is spoilt with an unparallelled closeness to top-players in the mobile and gaming industries, superb education and good local testing ground for their ideas. All this is transformed into amazing production values, surprising ideas and well-thought-of usage of a good brand on all platforms,” says Petra Theman, CEO of Favex.

This is why for the first time visitors at Mipformats and MIPTV can laugh, scream and learn with special Nordic content only screenings. The first one takes place on Sunday April 3rd (formats) at 10.20 in the Grand Auditorium, and the second one on Monday morning April 4th (fiction series) at 8.30 in Auditorium K.

An analytical panel discussion will take place directly after the Mipformats screenings in the Grand Auditorium. The speakers include Karoline Spodsberg (Banijay International), Jan Salling (Nordic World) and Pete Paavolainen (MTV3).

The main partners of “Laugh, Scream, Learn”, Banijay International and Nordic World said:
“Banijay International is delighted to be part of the Laugh, Scream, Learn screenings to showcase the creativity which continues to emanate from the region. I’m very much looking forward to demonstrating to international partners what the Nordic countries can offer across all platforms.” Karoline Spodsberg, Managing Director of Banijay International.

“The Nordic region is one the most innovative in the world. Its´about time that we stand tall, proud and united and show the world the very best formats and fiction from Denmark, Sweden, Norway and Finland.” says Jan Salling, COO and Sales Director of Nordic World.

K7 Media will shortly present their chosen 3-4 best new formats and 3-4 best new fiction series from each of the countries. The final content to be screened has been solely chosen by K7 Media, from shortlists presented to them. The main criteria has been their potential for international distribution. The programs are all new or fairly new to the international market, and have already been broadcasted (or are soon to be broadcasted) in their respective countries.
